The Red Scare

There were two red scares; one was in the early 1900's and the second was in the mid 1900's.
The red scare was the government using propaganda to trick the public into thinking that communists were all around them and that they were trying to manipulate the rest of the public.  Many people would accuse random people, its similar to the Salem witch trials. The red scare had people scared to the point where the goverment was making safe bonkers for people to go to if they were in public. The U.S. government also made educational videos and talks and showed them to the public be for movies or during TV commercials. The government even made a mascot for teaching the public how to hide. "Bert The Turtle" was the mascot, they said things like "he's smart he wears his shelter on his back, you must be able to find shelter as well"

I have posted a link below to show some propaganda and examples of the videos they would show in the late 40's and early 50's:

A Fierce Green Fire, Wind Energy.

I believe that wind energy is a great way to create new energy. Energy is the stuff that keeps this world going. Energy is used to power your car, energy is the stuff you use when you do everyday things, like read this! There are hundreds of upsides to this source of energy. A few of them are... Wind energy has no limits it can be used just about everywhere in the world. Wind is a source of energy that we will never run out of.  Wind is a very powerful source of energy, it will always be fluctuating up and down. It is also a very easy thing to maintain and has extremely low operating costs.  Now wind is not all good there are some problems with it. We can not predict exactly when and how fast the wind will come. Also the way we extract the wind through the huge "propellers" is very harming to animals, especially birds. On average about 320,000 birds die each year from colliding with the giant propellers of getting hit by them. Now this may not seem like a lot compared to the 3.7 billion cats kill each year, but that is because wind energy is not on a large scale yet. Wind energy is not nearly as large as some people would like it to be, many experts say it is the power source of the future, and that wind energy may be only 1/10000 of the scale many wish it to be. That is a lot of windmills!

Workin' on the Chain Gang

Workin' on the Chain Gang
Workin' on the chain gang is an extremely interesting book. It talks mostly about how slavery still exists even one hundred years after slavery was abolished. This entire system is a stinking blot upon the nation's honor, one which whites had a chance to expunge with the bloodshed and destruction of the Civil War, but which was immediately replenished when frightened and embittered Southerners, with the willing acquiescence of their Northern countrymen, imposed a system of apartheid on the newly freed black population. It also talks about how slavery wasn't just for blacks, white people could still be slaves. Or at least close to it.  The books mentions the Jim crow laws and how those where still keeping people especially black people down in the rankings and not allowing them to get better jobs. The book talks about how the African american people were still neglected and not given the help they deserved when they worked so hard for it. Just because they were free doesn't mean they still weren't treated with disrespect and like dirt.
